Convention is a Success Print E-mail
Richard DavisLast Saturday, the party held a great convention at Orem Junior High School. There were nearly 200 people there to enjoy speeches by Peter Corroon, Jim Matheson, Karen Hyer, and other candidates.  A candidate video showcased our legislative candidates.  The party has 13 individuals running for the state legislature - the Senate or the House.  In addition, our two county commission candidates - Lane Henderson and Ted Barratt - spoke to the convention.

Prior to the general session, delegates gathered in their district meetings to meet with the local candidates and begin to organize for the fall campaign.   This was an opportunity for candidates to get to know activists from their own districts and begin to build the party organization in each legislative district.

The press coverage of the convention accurately noted our assertion that we are the mainstream party of Utah County.  Our convention featured mainstream candidates who don't adhere to some extremist ideology.  Rather, they are local problem solvers who will represent their constituents and not some narrow party views like their opponents do.

The convention was a great kick-off for the fall campaign.  We're energized to elect candidates this fall who will put common sense ahead of extremist ideology.  If you weren't at the convention, you can still contact your candidate and get involved.  Under "candidates" on this website, you will find information about the candidates.  If there is no contact information there yet, call 356-0290 and ask for contact information for the candidate.

Get involved and make a difference THIS YEAR!
