May 7 Annual Convention for Utah County Democrats Print E-mail

The Utah County Democratic Party will hold its annual convention Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Orem Junior High School, 765 N 600 W, Orem. Legislative district meetings will start at 9 a.m. and the general session will run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
 
Election of Executive Officers:  All four executive offices – chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer – will be up for election for two-year terms. Registered Democrats who are residents of Utah County and who seek election as executive officers shall file an intention to run with county party secretary Gwyn Franson no later than fourteen (14) days prior to the county convention. Election of Legislative District Officers:  The offices of legislative district chair, vice chair and secretary/treasurer in all thirteen house districts in Utah County will be up for election for two-year terms. Anyone who is present at the legislative district annual meeting at the convention, is a resident of the legislative district, and is a registered Democrat or has submitted a form to register as a Democrat at the time of the vote may seek election as a district officer. Individuals seeking election as district officers may announce their intention to run prior to or at the annual district meeting at the convention.

Delegates at County Convention:  Anyone who is present at the county convention, is a resident of Utah County, and is a registered Democrat or has submitted a form to register as a Democrat at the time of the vote shall be considered a delegate to vote at the county convention.
 
State Convention Delegates: Delegates who are eligible to attend the annual Utah State Democratic Party this summer were elected at their neighborhood caucus meetings on March 23, 2010.  County party executive officers and legislative district chairs are automatic state delegates. If the county party’s quota of state delegates is not filled by automatic or elected delegates, the district chair may appoint at-large delegates for his or her district. Application forms for anyone interested in being considered for appointment as an at-large state delegate will be provided at the county convention.
